 Creative Writing 101

Once upon a time in a land far far away, there lived a devastatingly beautiful, middle aged, plus sized Queen. The queen had experienced a yummy lifetime of very fun (although not wise) food choices. So when the Queen's royal chickens returned to the castle to roost, it caused her to start making more "regal" food choices (and to submit to the dark art of exercise).

Unbeknownst to her, there were saboteurs all around pretending to be friends (or at least loyal subjects). Imagine her fright when she spotted this scarily horrific, fur covered creature skulking about. When the creature was queried about the reason for his presence, he testily denied any interest in the eggs, and huffily exclaimed, "Everyone knows I don't do strawberries!"

WHERE THE GROWN FOLKS AT ???

I am (clearing throat, taking deep breath . . .) 50 now, sometimes I am quite aware of it and sometimes I am not. I read lots of blogs and it seems that the fun bloggers are under 30. When I look at tutorial videos on Youtube, all of the ladies seem to be in their early 20's. I'm no "age-ist" (real word?) but where are the grown folks? It sorta hurts me that I can't seem to find my peer group. So I guess I'll just have to rep for my homies from the 70's. Click on this link: The Sylvers "Misdemeanor" ,

 I happened to glance down and I saw this adorable face looking up at me. How could I resist? Molly's is a pet friendly restaurant in a renovated house. The food is pretty typical (eggs, bacon, club sandwiches, fries, pancakes, etc.). I think they are only open  until 2 pm each day.

Forewarned is forearmed.

 It was all about the food for me. Ribs and Hot Link from Lucille's BBQ. Happy face. I believe money was being raised for a good cause???

 Peruvian food. Aji de Gallina, rice and some kind of lemony chicken salad. Happy face.

 No words.

 Dessert. 'Cuz I'm classy like that.

Happy face. I am not kidding, everything tasted good and I went to the event hungry. There was wine tasting also, but why waste your time with wine when you could be eating crab cakes?

This was a chicken wrap, salad, and delicious zucchini bread with sesame seeds. Yum! The square black bowl previously held Korean BBQ and I forgot to take the picture before I inhaled it.

We had a really good time. Good weather, music, people watching, and food.

THE JUICING TRIALS

Got my Juice Masterflash Turbo 2000 (inside joke), cut up some carrots, apples, and celery. Results were pretty delicious.

Pros: Easier than actually cooking, good for you and cheaper than going to Robek's. See cup in photo.

Cons: The clean up is a beast, as you can see the Juicemaster breaks down into 9,685 components. So if you're in the mood for juice, you'd also better be in the mood to bust suds.

Side note: offered a good friend a sip and you would have thought I had offered her an anthrax smoothie, by her response.

Sometimes I remember to take the picture before we eat, but for some reason Will and I were super hungry and just needed a "little something" to tide us over while we waited for our actual lunch.

THE CHEESE CAVE

Killing a little time, looking for a bathroom, stopped here randomly (no bathroom).  I didn't buy any cheese. I did buy chocolate and a tote bag. Because chocolate is the new cheese, and everyone knows that a tote bag is slimming and goes with everything. Cute store, smelled like a fart . . . probably the cheese. Probably.

The Big 5 Twins

 I need to get to back to exercising. Let me quit lying. I need to get TO exercising.(Think Chris Rock - old stuff).  I don't have any walking shoes and I do have a slight situation with the toenail on my big toe on my left foot. Okay TMI . Anyway I stopped by Big 5 and this is who I saw as I was contemplating my upcoming purchase:

 Too cute. The funny thing is, the one in the photo alone, sat and posed as soon as he heard some pictures would be taken. The other one took off running into the store, and was only willing to smile when his sister promised them popcorn. You never know who you will run into. I did find some shoes. I also asked for permission to photograph the children. Thanks Dad!
